• A 50-cent per gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE) tax credit for Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)
and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) when used as a vehicle fuel.
• An investment tax credit for alternative vehicle refueling property, including natural gas
stations. This incentive covers 30% of the cost or $30,000, whichever is less.
Additionally, the incentive allows for a $1,000 tax credit for any home refueling unit.
The incentives are retroactive and run from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2011. Not only will the Middle Class Tax Relief Act benefit the environment, but it will create an increase in jobs throughout the CNG industry. By encouraging the use of natural gas for transportation, the bill will help the industry grow, by increasing demand for CNG vehicles and fuel.

The California Transit Association will be offering their Fall Webinar on September 28 at 10 AM PST. The webinar will cover all the details of AB 118 alternative fuel funding opportunities in the state of California.
Assembly Bill 118 (Nunez) was signed into law in October 2007 and provides approximately $200 million annually through 2015 for new alternative fuel and air quality incentive programs. Transit agencies that already operate alternative-fuel buses or plan to integrate alternative fuel technology into their fleets may qualify for funding under the AB 118 programs.
Scheduled presenters include Aleecia Macias from the California Energy Commission (CEC), discussing the agency's Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program, and Robert Meyer from the Employment Training Panel (ETP), covering the opportunities available for workforce training funding for alternative fuel projects.
